A series of courses through the College of Design with a mix of career theory and an applied focus on career development practices including job and internship search strategies, career research, and tool development.

AAA 408/508 - Individual Branding Strategies

Do you know how to represent yourself through social media, image and communications? Are you clear what message you are sending about your unique skills and abilities? This class starts with personal exploration to clarify your professional goals and unique message and then we develop a multitude of tools to effectively communicate your brand through every aspect of your presentation.

DSGN 408/508 - Basic Design Portfolio
CRN 17135 / 17136 – 1 credit

Instructor – Kassia Dellabough
This class guides you through the steps to create a strong framework for your portfolio layout to showcase your work. Understand which work is essential to include. Clarifying your personal aesthetic, understanding the role of typography, page layout, and selecting a color palette will help you strengthen the message of your work and communicate clearly what your skills and experiences are AND the direction you are headed in your field

DSGN 408/508 - Job & Internship Search
CRN 17144 / 17145 – 1 credit  

Instructor – Kristin Grieger
The secret to searching for jobs or internships is a methodical step-by step process to assemble tools, research strategies and networking opportunities. This class will guide you through the steps to successfully land a great internship or job! It is never to early to start the search.

CRN 17137 / 17138 - 2 credit 

Instructor – Kassia Dellabough
Understanding the multitude of options for designers is core to this class. We will begin exploring your personal and professional interests in design to clarify the essential aspects that draw you to this type of work. Then we articulate what it means to be a designer or artist in our society to understand how and where you fit as a professional. Exploring the different disciplines and expanding out to understand the broader applications of your skills and interests. You will be amazed at the range of opportunities!
